We're still alive!

Okay, so it's Wednesday, and we haven't posted since springing the ever-so-surprising news of our engagement on Saturday. All that means is that we're having fun and enjoying the ability to relax.

We're currently sitting on a mini-bus on our way from Warnemunde to Berlin. We arranged a private tour for a small group of 14 people (rather than using the ship's tour, paying 3 times as much, and taking a stuffy train without air conditioning), and the trip will take about 2.5 hours each way. We'll have about 6 hours in Berlin before coming back to the ship.

So what have we been up to, you may be asking? (Alternatively, you may be asking why David Beckham gets paid as much as he does, but that's a question that cannot be answered.)

We boarded the ship on Sunday in Dover. It's a beautiful ship, and doesn't feel nearly as huge as she is. She's over 3 football fields long, and we walk from stem to stern frequently to get where we're going. There really haven't been any crowds, despite having 3,255 passengers onboard a ship listed with a capacity of under 3,100.

Next to us when we embarked was the Crystal Symphony, the sister ship to the Harmony that I was lucky enough to sail on several years ago with my parents and grandfather (his first time at sea since WWII). My, how the Splendor dwarfs other ships.

Monday was spent at sea, exploring the ship, using the spa's thalassotherapy pool (think a swimming pool-sized hot tub with lounge chairs in it), and yes, playing poker. (We're hooked.). A generally quiet day.

Yesterday, we visited Copenhagen, doing a hop-on-hop-off double-decker bus tour through the city. The architecture was beautiful, but we wish we'd had more time to explore the castles and Tivoli gardens.

That's a quick summary of what we've been up to... Tonight or tomorrow we'll get more pictures posted to catch you up on the sights.

Thanks for the comments - It helps let us know we're not just talking to ourselves (though I'm sure we do enough of that, too). :)

Guten Morgen!

David Beckham is the Pele of the 21st century. One of these days, we'll save up enough $ to take our kids out of the country and expose them to real culture (other than Nascar, wrestling, and the heart of the retail lending crisis).
